Transforming Venice Marco Polo into a 21st century airport

On 17 June, One Works completed Phase 1 of a major development plan for Venice Marco Polo Airport, with new facilities carefully integrated into the existing fabric of the airport.

Vilnius Airport completes €19m runway reconstruction

Vilnius Airport’s €19 million runway reconstruction has been successfully completed and it opened on 18 August with an official inaugural ceremony. Gediminas Almantas, CEO Lithuania Airports commented: “I am absolutely proud of the whole team of Lithuanian Airports – all of us were united and focused more than ever before. I believe this reconstruction became the biggest event in the whole Lithuanian aviation market.”

Edinburgh Airport begins work on €88m investment plan

Construction of a new £80 million (€88m) extension to Edinburgh Airport’s terminal building has commenced. The expansion is part of the airport’s £220 million (€244m) capital investment programme to support growth and maintain operational standards over the next five years.

Gatwick Airport to invest €1.26bn in new five-year plan

Gatwick Airport has announced it will invest £1.15 billion (€1.26bn) over the next five years, with £240 million (€308m) planned for 2017/18 alone, as it plans for more growth and improved efficiency, while also maintaining its record levels of passenger satisfaction. The commitment in this current Capital Investment Programme will bring Gatwick’s total investment plans to £2.7 billion (€3bn). “These projects will be delivered in a way that will help us realise our ambition to become the UK’s most sustainable airport,” says Raymond Melee, Director of Construction, Gatwick Airport.

Faro Airport unveils new €33m terminal

Following the investment of €33 million, Faro Airport has now completed its expansion and modernisation works, including increasing both operating areas and public areas, as well as the retail area and food court.
