Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, has announced a major investment in its IT infrastructure. This includes installing 180 common-use workstations and 30 new common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks, which will allow passengers to print their own bag tags, as well as their boarding passes.

“Kempegowda Airport, being the gateway to a city which is one of the top technology innovation hubs in the world, continues to adopt next generation technology to enhance the overall passenger experience,” Hari Marar, President, Airport Operations, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), commented.
All 31 airlines using the airport can access their respective IT applications in real-time on shared equipment. They can also use any airport desk, gate, or self-service kiosk for passenger check-in and boarding. The aim is to ensure maximum flexibility and convenience for the airport, airlines and passengers.
The investment will help Kempegowda International Airport manage queues as passenger numbers increase. In March 2015, the airport reported that it now serves over 15 million passengers a year – an increase of 19.3% year-on-year.
The IT upgrades will go into operation in June and are being driven by SITA after the airport signed a seven-year contract, which also includes baggage reconciliation and baggage management upgrades.
