Eye-catching graffiti artwork installed at Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal 1

A 320m graffiti mural has been unveiled at Frankfurt Airport to give visitors from around the world a unique insight into the city’s landmarks as soon as they step out of Terminal 1.

The artwork, created by Helge ‘Bomber’ Steinmann, comprises of 15 images depicting Frankfurt’s key attractions, including the Römer city hall, the zoo, Eintracht Frankfurt soccer team, and the Alte Oper concert hall. Frankfurt’s skyline is the central focus of the graffiti mural, painted on an integrated bridge pylon.

Frankfurt Zoo graffiti

The man behind the art, Helge ‘Bomber’ Steinmann, illustrating Frankfurt Zoological Garden – one of the city’s key attractions for visitors.

Fraport developed the mural as part of Frankfurt Airport’s award-winning ‘Great to have you here!’ programme, which is designed to enhance the passenger experience at the airport.

Situated in the bus station opposite the terminal, the artwork offers guests an immediate welcome and gives them an insight into what is yet to come on their travels to the city. In 2014, Frankfurt Airport welcomed 60 million passengers, serving 297 destinations globally.

Paulskirche gaffiti

Featuring on the 320m graffiti mural is a depiction of Paulskirche, a church in the city with important political symbolism.

Helge ‘Bomber’ Steinmann is the founder of the world’s first graffiti and urban-art agency. The sketch-like piece at Frankfurt Airport bridges the gap between classical graffiti and modern illustration.
