The bag tag can be printed on an A4 sheet of paper, folded and placed in a plastic wallet, which can then be attached to the bag. Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger simply has to drop their bag at a bag drop desk.
Home-printed bag tags are currently available to passengers flying with Air France on domestic services only, due to the current European Commission customs legislation preventing their use on international services. However, the airline is hoping to expand the service to also cover international flights later this year.
The French carrier is the second airline to permanently adopt home-printed bag tags, following in the footsteps of Iberia, which launched them in July 2013.
