The 20th ACI EUROPE Annual Assembly, Congress and Exhibition also hosted the 6th Annual ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards in Milan during the gala dinner. This year’s judging panel was drawn from a well-respected group of independent experts including the European Commission, EUROCONTROL and the European Disability Forum.
The ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards cover 4 categories of airport and aim to recognise achievement in core activities such as customer service, retail, security and environmental awareness.
The awards were presented to winning airports by Olivier Jankovec, Director General, ACI EUROPE, Ad Rutten, President of ACI EUROPE and COO of Schiphol Group, Giuseppe Bonomi, President & CEO of SEA Aeroporti di Milano and Regio, Director of ENAC (the Italian Civil Aviation Authority).
This year’s awards also saw the introduction of a new award, the Eco-Innovation Award, which is appointed by the independent Advisory Board of Airport Carbon Accreditation.
This year saw two airports from opposite corners of Europe announced as joint winners: Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Izmir Adnan Menderes International Airport.
